Development of Women Entrepreneurship as a Catalyst for Transition toward a more Sustainable Development: A Systematic Review of Enablers and Barriers of Women Entrepreneurship Development in emerging countries

Abstract

Women entrepreneurship exerts a significant contribution to the socio-economic advancement of a nation. The objective of this paper is to find out the major constraints that impede smooth operation and development of women entrepreneurs in emerging countries. It also identifies the enablers behind the success of the women entrepreneurship that contribute to achieve a sustainable development. The paper has been developed through a systematic review of literature (SLR) by analyzing the recent studies and articles on women entrepreneurship development literature. After doing the SLR, we have made the bibliometric analysis. To identify the most influential articles, we formulated an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) matrix by using the Total Citation (TC) and Average Citation Rate (ACR) of the publications. From the analysis, the study identified the different enablers, barriers of women entrepreneurship and the ways women entrepreneurship can lead to sustainable development. The study formulated a framework of sustainable development through women entrepreneurship. The findings of the research provide implications for identification of barriers and enablers for the policymakers to devise appropriate strategies. The research also offers directions for further research.
